I have a question about the ending of Atlas Shrugged, so if you haven't finished it yet, please don't read on if you don't want to spoil the ending....

I'm a little confused about what happened to Eddie Willers. Why did he just remain on the Comet? I suppose I can understand his desire to be like a captain and go down with the ship, but why didn't anyone (like Dagny or Francisco) come to save him? I'm curious to hear your insight on this.
