Just quickly-- why did such a remarkably unintelligent and giftless woman put such emphasis on individualism?
Ayn Rand was famously proud of the fact that she was dismissed by the philosophical community. As though this was because she offended the uptight, straight-laced sensibilities of the establishment. Her train of reasoning is embaringly childish: so many great minds were unaccepted by their peers-- I'm unaccepted by my peers-- therefore, I must be a great mind.
Nobody has ever tried harder to ape the stereotype of a misunderstood genius. Neither has anybody referred to themselves so often as a "philosopher."
This woman is so perversely dependent on the approval of others. What would she have done without an audience of American rs (and a few creepy adults who like to hang out with them)?
Too many of us agree with anything we can understand. Few things are weaker or less individualistic than buying into this cliched, oversimplified trash.
