It's amazing, isn't it, how the works of Burnhamite Trotskyism and old-fangled American conservatism mesh, isn't it?
Would it be fair to say that Whittaker Chambers bumped into the new upper cl' cl interest? This certainly fits with the Menckenite attitude in the State Department fifty years ago, doesn't it.
And it also explains why Joe McCarthy destroyed himself. He never knew where to aim, or even how, so he ended up destroying himself by touching the untouchable in the American government - the independent U.S. Army.
In otherwords, he parodied the managerial revolution, and that made him dangerous as hell because he didn't know when to back off - sort of like Jim Jones [the People's Temple] on the Left. In the early 1960s.
