I am manager of a motel. We have efficiency units and they can be called: efficiencies,units,rooms,apts. They have a little more added to them for people who want to stay longer. ex. relocating workers from large companies who work away from home a few nights a week and cannot travel, people who work and do not have a place of their own yet,etc. We rent them nightly,weekly,monthly and can rent longer term. I have called the troopers in the past and they say it is civil when I say it is the efficiency apts. We are paying tax for bed 2% and 8.25 tax for local tax. Apartment houses don't tax. We supply everything. I have a person who says he has 90 days and has me taking him to court like a landlord/tennant situation when we are not that. We are catagorized as a motel and listed with the code enforcer office in our county. Can you help me so when I go to court this week, I have something or numbers of laws to tell the judge? This guy owes me 1400. We need the room/efficiency and I want to know if I call the troopers what happens next. The procedure??? Thank you
